Helping Go is funded through Nesta’s ShareLab Scotland Fund. Nesta describes itself as a ‘Global Innovation Foundation’. The foundation seeks to “back new ideas to tackle the big challenges of our time.”
These challenges include trends such as an ageing population, and constrained public services, both of which are relevant to Helping Go’s purpose. Nesta works with partners across the globe, including governments, charities and businesses, to ‘innovate for good’ and make the world a better place.
Nesta launched the original ShareLab Fund in 2016 with a remit to work with collaborative digital platforms to create positive social impacts. ShareLab was set up as a UK wide pilot intervention to support the growth of a more socially driven sharing-economy. ShareLab worked with eight initiatives under the first round of the fund.
Following on from the success of the 2016 ShareLab Fund, Nesta established a partnership with the Scottish Government to find and support viable projects that use collaborative digital platforms to create positive social impact, in innovative and scalable ways.
This initiative is funded by Scottish Government and managed by Nesta. It was announced in November 2018 that Helping Go would be one of five successful organisations that ShareLab Scotland would be working with.

Helping Go is a Social Enterprise promoting micro-volunteering.
